Project Overview:
This renovation at the YWCA in Worcester, Massachusetts transformed an aging wood gym floor into a modern, high-performance multi-sport indoor court spanning approximately 3,350 square feet. The updated space delivers enhanced safety, versatility, and long-term durability for community programming.
Court Design & Flooring
- Surface: A clean, professional combination of Light Maple Select flooring for the main field with Pearl Orange HG tiles defining the border and basketball keys.
- Finish Details: A black cove base with 1-inch toe provides a polished, fully finished look while protecting the perimeter.
Equipment Upgrades
- Wall-Mounted Basketball Systems:
- Installed First Team SuperMount adjustable wall-mounted goals for reliable, space-saving performance.
- Retrofitted an existing ceiling-mounted system to accommodate a new First Team 72” adjustable basketball hoop, bringing consistent playability across the gym.
- Bleacher Seating:
- Added First Team Fanstand™ Tip-N-Roll Bleachers in both 9-foot and 15-foot lengths.
- Featuring single plank, 3-tier seating, these units provide flexible spectator capacity with easy mobility and storage.
- Wall Protection:
- Installed approximately 34 linear feet of BodyGuard™ protective wall padding in black, enhancing player safety while maintaining a clean, cohesive aesthetic.
Game Line Configuration
- Basketball: Abbreviated court layout with white lines for clear visibility.
- Volleyball: Marked with black lines, allowing for seamless multi-sport use.
Project Highlights
This renovation revitalizes the YWCA’s gymnasium into a safe, adaptable, and visually striking athletic space.
