28′ x 43′ Multi-Sport Court Installation @ The Kita Center in Acton ME

Project Overview: The Kita Center in Acton, Maine is a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to suicide loss support, grief healing, and mental wellness programming for youth and families. Their grounds serve as both a camp and a year-round gathering space, and this new 28′ x 43′ multi-sport court adds an active, energizing element to that environment.

The finished surface supports basketball, pickleball, and shuffleboard, giving campers and program participants a dedicated space to play, connect, and recharge.

Court Surface and Design

A custom two-color layout gives this court both visual definition and clear multi-sport zoning:

  • Flooring: SportGame Pickleball
  • Pickleball Court Area: Tennis Blue tiles set the dedicated pickleball zone.
  • Main Field: Dark Blue tiles cover the central playing surface.
  • Basketball Key: A combination of Tennis Blue and Dark Blue tiles creates a defined key area with built-in contrast and visual depth.

Equipment

  • Basketball System: A Pro Slam adjustable hoop with a 36-inch arm and 72-inch glass backboard delivers a full-size, high-quality shooting experience on a compact footprint. The adjustable height mechanism makes it accessible for a wide range of ages and skill levels.

Game Line Configuration

Three distinct sports are mapped cleanly onto this surface:

  • Basketball: White lines define the modified full-court layout.
  • Modified Pickleball: Pearl Orange lines offer high contrast against the dark tile and clearly mark court boundaries.
  • Modified Shuffleboard: Kiwi lines bring a fun, recreational element that adds variety for camp programming.

Project Highlights

This installation is a great example of designing for community. A compact footprint with three sports, bold color-coded zones, and durable modular tile means this court will hold up through heavy seasonal use and give campers something to look forward to every session.
