Project Overview: This backyard build in Statham, New Hampshire is a true four-season transformation. The 30′ x 60′ court was designed to deliver pickleball and basketball through the warmer months, then convert into a backyard hockey and skating rink once temperatures drop, giving this property year-round athletic use. Add in extensive sitework and a full backyard cleanup, and this project turned an underused space into the centerpiece of the yard.
Court Surface and Design
- Tile: SportGame pickleball tile in Dark Blue and Granite, finished with a one-tile Granite border for a clean, framed look around the entire court.
- Net System: A Sport Court Multi-Sport Net allows the court to flex across multiple net sports without needing separate equipment for each.
Winter Conversion Features
What makes this build stand out is its ability to transform for the season:
- Dasher Boards and Liner: Installed specifically for freezing the court into a backyard hockey and skating rink during the winter months, giving the family a completely different use for the same space.
Equipment and Lighting
- Basketball System: A Pro Slam adjustable hoop with a 36-inch arm and 72-inch backboard brings a professional-grade shooting experience to the court.
- Lighting: A double-head LED lighting system extends play well into the evening, whether it’s a summer pickleball match or a night skate in January.
- Ball Containment Netting: 120 linear feet of 10’4″ netting keeps balls and pucks contained during both warm and cold weather play.
- Fencing: One full-height gate provides clean, controlled access to the court.
Additional Sitework
Beyond the court itself, this project included two major backyard upgrades:
- A new 12′ x 20′ shed pad was poured, adding usable storage space to the property.
- An overgrown koi pond was filled in, clearing out an unused and neglected feature to make way for a cleaner, more functional backyard.
Project Highlights
This Statham build goes well beyond a standard court installation. Between the seasonal conversion to a hockey and skating rink, the added shed pad, and the removal of an old koi pond, this project delivered a complete backyard renovation. The homeowners now have a space that works for pickleball and basketball all summer and transforms into a rink for winter, making it one of the most versatile builds in the region.
