Project Overview: This Otisfield, Maine build was installed at Moose Lake Ranch. The project combined serious site work, a fully enclosed and lit playing surface, a dedicated pavilion pad, and competition-quality equipment to create a 60′ x 60′ multi-sport facility designed for long-term use and real gameplay.
Site Preparation
Like the best outdoor court builds, this one started well before the first tile went down:
- 150 tons of structural fill were brought in to build up, level, and stabilize the site, creating a solid, properly drained base for the entire installation.
- A 14′ x 12′ pavilion pad was included in the project scope, giving the space a dedicated area for seating, shade, or shelter right alongside the court.
Fencing and Lighting
This court was built to be used day and night, season after season:
- 234 linear feet of 6-foot black chain link fencing encloses the full court perimeter, keeping balls in play and defining the space with a clean, structured look.
- A single access gate provides easy entry and exit.
- Four single-head solar lights illuminate the court after dark, extending playtime without the need for electrical infrastructure.
Court Surface and Design
Three-zone tile coloring creates clear visual separation across the playing surface:
- Field: Green tiles cover the main playing area, grounding the court in a natural, classic outdoor aesthetic.
- Pickleball Service Areas: Granite tiles define the service zones on both courts.
- Pickleball Kitchens: Dark Blue tiles mark the non-volley zones, giving players an instant visual read on court boundaries.
Game Lines:
- Basketball: Black lines trace the half court layout against the green field tile.
- Pickleball: Two full courts are marked in white, offering clean contrast across all three tile zones.
Equipment
- Basketball System: The Mega Slam hoop with a 48-inch arm and 72-inch backboard brings premium performance to the court. The longer arm positions the backboard properly over the playing surface for a true game experience.
- Pickleball Nets: A Putterman inground post and net system anchors one dedicated pickleball setup for permanent, tournament-quality play. A Dominator Pro Max portable net adds flexibility for a second court or alternate configurations.
Project Highlights
From the 150 tons of structural fill to the solar-lit, fenced, and fully equipped playing surface, this Otisfield court is a true outdoor athletic facility. The pavilion pad, dual pickleball net systems, and custom tile zoning make it as functional as it is sharp-looking. This is the kind of build that becomes the centerpiece of a property.
